Review: Carpenter Street

Um, yeah. That was about as uninspiring as I'd expected it to be. Granted, I'm not a big fan of the "our heroes travel back to modern times" Trek episodes in the first place (although I did love ST IV: The Voyage Home). Jonny-boy only gets to take one person with him on this little jaunt, so of course he picks T'Pol. The only other main character we see the entire hour is Trip, and then only briefly.

I found it amusing that Archer steals the same Starfleet-skivves blue Dodge Ram that Tom Paris stole (and got vaporised) during VOY's little trip to the 90's. Jon trying to drive was mildly amusing, as was the look on T'Pol's face when the little guy who's been abducting people for the Xindi accidentally dropped a chunk of hamburger meat on her pant leg while they were in the car.

There was more distracting cinematography in this ep. I wish they would start hiring people who actually went to the lecture in film school about how the cinematography is supposed to help the scene rather than hinder it.

That's really all I have to say. I wasn't drawn in at all; I never felt the peril. Basically, it was a big yawn punctuated by a few laughs.
